Our military veterans face a multitude of struggles when they return from a war zone. Readjusting to civilian life, depression, loss of limbs and other injuries, seen and unseen.
The needs of our Purple Heart veterans are vast, and so are the hearts of those that want to help. The Warrior Bonfire Program came to be, in a conversation with a wounded veteran who said, "I could spend all day with a certified counselor and not come close to the therapeutic value of sitting around a bonfire with five or six guys who were there." Daniel Fordice responded with, "Then let us build the bonfire."
They bring these warriors together for an adventure, either hunting or skiing or another outdoor activity - allowing them to bond, share their experiences and understanding.
Mike Foss, president of the Warrior Bonfire Project joins us to explain how this camaraderie heals, saves lives, and saves families.
