Today we'll talk with Mark Schneider, President of College Measures, and lead researcher for the web-tool, LaunchMyCareerColorado.org. Mark will explain how the tool can lead to more successful graduates by directing their focus to three main considerations, Hot Jobs, Hot Skills and the Return On Investment based on the career and lifestyle each student expects.
LaunchMyCareerColorado.org launched just last week, at an event at History Colorado on June 9th. This is an exciting tool to help guide students with a realistic view of the demand for their chosen careers, expected salaries as well as the weight of school loans. Parents, students and employers should check it out at www.LaunchMyCareerColorado.org. Tennessee, Texas and Minnesota are next in line for similar tools. As Coloradans we consider our state fortunate to be part of the pilot program.

Dream It. Do It. Manufacturing Initiative
We talk with Nick D'Antonio, the national Program Manager for Dream It. Do It. to learn how to get students engaged and to recognize the strong careers that can await them in their own home towns, and without the burden of post-college debt. Tara Alexander with COBRT is the Dream It. Do It. Colorado Program Manager, and she and COBRT President Jeff Wasden also join the show.
Dream It. Do It. is an initiative of the National Manufacturer's Association to encourage a new generation to explore careers in manufacturing. It is a career exposure strategy to attract and recruit young people into the manufacturing sector and can achieve great things for improving the image of manufacturing but only if it is led by partners with the passion, drive, and commitment to create its success.
Manufacturing careers offer good salaries and exciting opportunities to be on the cutting edge of new technologies and products. However, the industry is often misunderstood in the eyes of young people and the parents and teachers who influence their career choices. To help change the image of manufacturing in Colorado, COBRT has become a partner program of the NAM’s Manufacturing Institute’s youth recruitment initiative, Dream It. Do It.
Manufacturers can access great, free resources by being a part of Dream It. Do It. Colorado and we want you to learn more about the program and how you can get involved. In early March, representatives from the Manufacturing Institute and COBRT will be leading Dream It. Do It. information sessions across the state. These sessions will provide an informational overview on Dream It. Do It. as well as an open forum to discuss best practices, challenges and solutions for engaging Colorado youth in manufacturing and related education pathways.

New Media - A Look At Journalism in the Digital Age
Think about how the way you consume media has changed. Do you remember when you read the newspaper cover to cover, and watch the six o'clock news? Now you scan Facebook, a few favorite news sites and watch Netflix instead of the news. Don't you?
We'll talk with Kristi Strother, Journalism Professor at Community College of Denver about New Media. We’ll discuss how access to information has changed, and the need for Media Literacy Education not only for aspiring journalists, but for the everyday media consumer (YOU!) as well.
