We talk with Nick D'Antonio, the national Program Manager for Dream It. Do It. to learn how to get students engaged and to recognize the strong careers that can await them in their own home towns, and without the burden of post-college debt. Tara Alexander with COBRT is the Dream It. Do It. Colorado Program Manager, and she and COBRT President Jeff Wasden also join the show.
Dream It. Do It. is an initiative of the National Manufacturer's Association to encourage a new generation to explore careers in manufacturing. It is a career exposure strategy to attract and recruit young people into the manufacturing sector and can achieve great things for improving the image of manufacturing but only if it is led by partners with the passion, drive, and commitment to create its success.
Manufacturing careers offer good salaries and exciting opportunities to be on the cutting edge of new technologies and products. However, the industry is often misunderstood in the eyes of young people and the parents and teachers who influence their career choices. To help change the image of manufacturing in Colorado, COBRT has become a partner program of the NAM’s Manufacturing Institute’s youth recruitment initiative, Dream It. Do It.
Manufacturers can access great, free resources by being a part of Dream It. Do It. Colorado and we want you to learn more about the program and how you can get involved. In early March, representatives from the Manufacturing Institute and COBRT will be leading Dream It. Do It. information sessions across the state. These sessions will provide an informational overview on Dream It. Do It. as well as an open forum to discuss best practices, challenges and solutions for engaging Colorado youth in manufacturing and related education pathways.
