Even though Google won the lawsuit levied against them by Oracle over the use of java in Android, the innovative internet company is apparently developing a new lightweight OS from scratch, no longer even using the Linux Kernel.
Most of the news circulating is speculation at this point, though Google's own documentation for Magenta (on which Fuschia is being built) says the software "targets modern phones and modern personal computers" that use "fast processors" and "non-trivial amounts of RAM."
Brian Swetland, listed as a lead Google developer, reportedly said: "The decision was made to build it open source, so might as well start there from the beginning."
