The 2015 Colorado STEM Summit, presented by the South Metro Denver Chamber launched important discussions about education, re-training and re-building the workforce. For those ideas to take shape and make powerful changes in education, the conversation can't end at the summit. For that reason, throughout December, we will feature interviews with leaders in STEM to keep the conversation going.

On today's show, we focus on the Education angle, from providing proper STEM education from Kindergarten through High School, to ensure that graduates are prepared for rigorous college programs. We will talk with Dan McMinimee, Superintendent of JeffCo Schools and Linda Reed, Superintendent of Archuleta Schools, about the curriculums that are working, and the challenges bring effect STEM programs to both urban and rural schools.

To address the options and considerations between 2-year and 4 -year college programs, we'll talk with David Greenberg,Vice Chancellor of Institutional Partnerships at the University of Denver and Everette Freeman, President of the Community College of Denver.

Finally, we have a conversation about upscaling the adult workforce, and the option of certification programs for those workers with varied experience who may lack the proper certifications to move into better, STEM-related jobs. Jon Bellum, Provost with CSU Global joins us for that interview.

We encourage you learn all you can about STEM careers and the educational resources to support those jobs. In the very near future, at least half of Colorado's new jobs will be in STEM fields, and we need to prepare our current and future workforce to fill those jobs and succeed at them.
