Joelle Martinez, Executive Director of the Latino Leadership Institute at the University of Denver, joins us to discuss the importance of immigration reform. We'll discuss the demographics and economics of immigration as well as concerns that Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) might be repealed under a Trump Administration. LLI Program Coordinator, Marco Dorado - himself a DACA recipient - shares his story and struggles in obtaining education and employment.
Joelle will talk about national efforts by Rep. Mike Coffman (R-CO), Rep. Luis V. Gutierrez (D-IL), Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) to introduce the BRIDGE Act (Bar Removal of Individuals who Dream and Grow our Economy) to provide work authorization and temporary relief from deportation to undocumented youth.
