Key representatives from the renewable energy field in Colorado attended a tour of IKEA's geothermal heating/cooling wells in early March. Kenneth Bodeen, IKEA Centennial's store manager, greeted Swedish Ambassador to the United States Björn Lyrvall and 25 other participants at IKEA.
After a brief talk by the Ambassador and the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce, The group saw the unique set-up of the geothermal wells of IKEA Centennial. The facility is the largest, self-sustaining commercial building in Colorado. It will be interesting to follow the development of IKEA's new facility in Broomfield, which is planned to open its doors in 2019. After the tour IKEA held a traditional Swedish fika (coffee and pastries) and the gummy dalahorses became a new-found favorite for most.
