From Colorado Business Committee for the Arts (CBCA): Cultural tourism saw its greatest gains ever, and jobs in arts, cultural and scientific organizations have reached pre-great recession levels, according to CBCA's new "Economic Activity Study of Metro Denver Culture."
The 2016 study showed the cultural community's continued consistent impact on injecting new dollars into the region's economy, creating jobs and providing extensive outreach to metro area schools. The continued success of the arts is due in great part to the taxpayer-supported SCFD, which since 1989 has distributed funds from a sales and use tax to cultural facilities throughout the seven-county metropolitan area. CBCA would love to present this study to your Board of Directors, staff, volunteers or community group. More

From the Pelican Bay Group at Morgan Stanley: September 15 marked the start of National Hispanic Heritage Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the contributions that Hispanic Americans have made to our country - past and present. According to the U.S. Census, more than 20% of Colorado's five million residents are Latino. Census data also shows that Denver has one of the highest populations of Hispanics or Latinos in the U.S. - making up more than 31% of the population.
The media is inundated everyday with stories focused on the economic impact of Millennials. However, the growing population of Hispanics could have an even greater effect. In fact, the increase in spending among Hispanics will likely exceed that of Millennials and Baby Boomers combined over the next five years. More

High-Level Conference Helps Set Policy Priorities for BRT on Cybersecurity
More than 150 attendees at a Business Roundtable conference -- including numerous chief information officers and general counsels -- discussed the cyber-threats their companies face, how to prevent and respond to attacks, and what cybersecurity policies BRT should adopt as its priorities.
Julie Sweet of Accenture, Chair of the Technology, Internet and Innovation Committee, introduced the event by stressing the need to shape the policy agenda for the next Administration and Congress. Gen. Michael Hayden (Ret.), the former NSA and CIA director, gave an in-depth presentation on cybersecurity, arguing that the private sector must be the prime mover in cyber-defense. In a live poll and breakout discussions, attendees also identified top areas for future action, including: public-private partnerships, federal regulation, operating in a global environment, and how the Internet of Things is transforming the cybersecurity environment.
