Featuring Dr. Karambu Ringera and Libby Cook
Please join us for the 2016 Posner Center Innovators Dinner, a special evening honoring international innovators from Colorado and abroad. Innovators are the movers and shakers in the international development world. They are not afraid to think outside the box and use new approaches to strive for lasting impact in the communities where they work. This year, two dynamic women, Dr. Karambu Ringera and Ms. Elizabeth Cook, will share their stories of forging new paths in the developing world.
Dr. Ringera is the Founder and President of International Peace Initiatives, a Kenya-based organization dedicated to supporting and funding initiatives that mitigate the effects of poverty, disease, discrimination, and violence. Dr. Ringera earned her PhD. in intercultural communication from the University of Denver in 2008, with earlier education completed in Kenya and South Africa. She has used her extensive education and experience to design and implement effective models of community engagement in countries around the world. This includes developing a successful model of “Amani Homes”, which serve as community homes for orphaned and vulnerable children in Kenya and elsewhere.
Elizabeth (Libby) Cook is the Founder and Executive Director of the Boulder-based organization Philanthropiece Foundation. Ms. Cook is an entrepreneur at heart, having co-founded, led, and served as General Counsel for both Wild Oats Markets and Sunflower Markets. Through her work at Philanthropiece, she uses her wealth of experience and a keen global perspective to empower local change-makers in Guatemala, Mexico, and Colorado and partner with them to co-create resilient communities.
The event will begin with a cocktail reception from 6:00 – 7:00 PM, with a dinner and formal program following from 7:00 – 8:30 pm.
