Carlos Bello - Mexico’s Consul General in Denver

 

Mr. Carlos Bello was designated by the President of Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto, and ratified by the Mexican Senate on 2013 as Consul General of Mexico in Denver with jurisdiction over the states of Colorado, eastern part of Wyoming and eastern part of Montana. He holds a Law degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas in Austin, and has completed several courses in Development Banking offered by the American University in Washington, D.C. 

He has an extensive experience in the public sector. He held a position in the Banks and Currency Department of the Secretariat of Finance and Public Credit, where he also served as Chief of the Assets Department and as Collaborator and Advisor on Economic Studies. He was an Associate with the Law firm of Rubio, Martinez, Lorenzo; Assistant Chief and Manager of International Transactions for Nacional Financiera; and Chief of Staff and General Coordinator for the Undersecretary of Finance and Public Credit at the Secretariat of Finance and Public Credit. He served as the National Foreign Commerce Bank’s (BANCOMEXT) Trade Commissioner of Mexico in Atlanta, Georgia, from November 1988 to June 1993; his responsibilities in this position covered the states of Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.

From June 1993 to December 1995, Mr. Bello held the position of Director of the Metropolitan and Government’s Funds Division of the Worker’s Bank (Banco Obrero). Mr. Bello held the position of Trade Advisor for the Western Region of the United States at the BANCOMEXT headquarters in Mexico City. From 1995 to 2002, he served as Trade Commissioner of Mexico in Dallas, Texas, where he oversaw trade and investment issues for the states of Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Montana, and Wyoming, as well as the Houston and San Antonio offices. He was responsible for the Foreign Investment Unit at the BANCOMEXT headquarters from September 2002 to April 30, 2008 and supervised all the Trade Commission offices of Mexico in North America. From May 2008 to August 2013, Mr. Bello was the General Director of the Mexican Federation of Aerospace Industries (FEMIA), where he helped make the industry one of the fastest growing in Mexico. It is now considered as a strategic industry in the country for its high levels of technological innovation and competitiveness and as a leader in research and development. He and his wife Alicia, who have been married for 43 years, have three children: Carlos, Roberto and Adriana, and four grandchildren: Mateo, Ximena, Luciana and Nina.
